Day 2 of Bangkok Mapping

Today, the Thailand team seems picking up now and just like Sydney team, we manage to complete the mapping and as well as yesterday left over. Surprisingly the CEO and CFO came into our meeting room and greet us personally. They are so friendly and humble and we had some chat about work and leisure. The CFO even offered to bring us for dinner later and get the FM to show us around. Because we also feel bad to make them drive us on weekdays (BKK traffic can be very bad), we just ask him to send us to The Grand Palace and drop us there.

The dinner place was just around our BKK office, also few shops away from WK restaurant that we had on Sunday night. The food portion is small but quite cheap so instead of having just a main course, we actually ordered quite a lot of dishes and it was a satisfying dinner. I think the price would have triple fold if were to eat at WK restaurant.

It was a long journey to The Grand Palace, almost 35 mins due to bad traffic. We were told the Palace would have close at this hour but we can still take some night shots and walk around that, which we did. The Palace is very big and easily I can spend half a day there. The architecture was so detail and shape is very attractive, a nice spot for photography.

After spending about 30 mins there, we decided to take cab back as my boss still wanted to do massage near Silom. OMG, he seems having good time here and this time, we went to different massage center in hope to find a better and cheaper one. This time, we chose foot massage and it turn out to be very good. I even fell asleep during the session until my boss wake me up ;)

He also tell me that his massager tried to massage his penis but luckily he hinted the massager to stop otherwise … you’ll know the rest ;) It seems Silom has a lot of gay person and stuffs there because while walking the night market, instead of selling women porno, they sell gay porno and sex toys for men. Damn … I really need to be extra care when talking to a lady in BKK because you’ll never know she might have the ‘stick’ :P

Day 1 for Bangkok Workshop

Unlike my Sydney trip, this round we have 3 person to do the workshop and things seem much smoother and effective, partly because my US boss did the presentation ;)

I have to admit Indian is very good at presentation because they can talk in relax manner while deliver still able to deliver the message. Good and bad things always come together, we have good start, smooth presentation but the users seems slow and not sure what they really want. As usual Asian users is more passive and you really need to make them talk and work otherwise they will keep quiet. Besides that, their spoken and understand of English were a bit poor.

As another long pack day passed, we manage to get some mapping done and able to leave the office around 6:30pm. I thought we could go out for some shopping but the other 2 colleagues look tired and they proposed to have dinner in the hotel only. So once we have freshen up, we met and had our dinner at the Zuk bar, one of the hotel facilities.

Didn’t talk much with them because it’s more to management discussion and I just look around and have my dinner. Once the dinner is over, they called that a day and I better go back room to rest and watch some TV. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to do something after work.

Sunday 29 May 2011

Bangkok, here I come :)

Yawn, that’s the first thing I could remember because I have to force wake up early on a Sunday morning, sigh. It was 7:05am and I have to walk to nearest taxi stand to get a taxi. Not sure if I could get a taxi on Sunday morning otherwise I will need to call one.

It was my luck that a taxi came within 5 mins and that driver was very friendly and we had a nice chat all the way to the airport. Initially wanted have breakfast at McD but the queue was very long and I’m so lazy to wait, plus most of the tables were occupied. So went to change some TH and KR money first as I never has a chance to do so during weekend. I was so happy when I found Toast Box and I always crazy about their soft boil eggs ;)

So had myself a breakfast set then check in thru the immigration. It was a quiet morning because the crowd is very less. Most of the facilities were vacant and I even have the chance to use the foot massage machine by Osim. Manage to relax for 30 mins before boarding the plane while doing my last FB session.

Another breakfast on the plane
Arrived in BKK airport around 12pm and this is the first time I’m not in transit but walk out from their arrival hall. Few years back, I was told all signage was in Thai but luckily now, they have some English words right under the Thai words. With this, I’m able to get thru the airport, found a taxi and arrive in the hotel ‘tanpa was-was’ ;)

While checking into the hotel, I got to know that my manager from US was already there since 10am so decided to go out for some walk with him after settle down my luggage. The only place that I always heard and wanted to go is Cha Tu Chak and so happen there is a MRT station (Lumphini) near my hotel, just 10 mins walk. Also lucky that this line is the same line with Cha Tu Chak station so it took us almost 30 mins, 12 stations to reach there.

A duckie in my bathrub, not funny :(
It was a very huge market where it has outdoor and indoor and their goodies range from  clothing to pet’s stuffs and price seems reasonable but of course bargain skill will be useful here. My manager seems very enjoy at this place and spent all his Thai Baht here, not to mention borrow some money from me. I have to stop him otherwise he will spend more.

Lunch at Cha Tu Chak
After 4 hours of shopping, we finally reach hotel around 5:30pm to get ourselves freshen up because the next stop will be massage. To me, this is a must To Do whenever you’re in Thailand. Since I have no clue where to, went googling and found there is a popular place near my hotel … which is Silom/Pat Phong. It’s just 15 mins walk there and once we were there, OMG, another shopping market and here my boss gone crazy again.

Same thing I have to stop him as he keep buying things and make him go to massage. Since he never try it before, I have proposed him oil massage which cost 500 baht and same goes to me. After the message, both of us were already half dead. Had dinner at a decent nice Thai restaurant, MK, while we were on our way back to hotel.

The food is quite good but slightly overprice but since it’s paid under company, who cares ;) As expected, he discuss about my resignation and our team road map and I also told him that I’m being offered by GIS team and he proposed me to wait for a while because he will discuss with the GM.

Here again I’m in dilemma because GIS boss offer me but position seems not in my favour, SAP boss seems keen to retain me and try to fulfill my criteria but I don’t like their working environment and if were to go back, it’s still unknown but one thing for sure my salary will be cut 40%.

It seems I have not much choice but to take GIS boss offer because it’s a new role, have the flexibility to work in KL/SG and retain my current package. Hopefully, things will be more solid and firm by next week but then again I need to find out what’s the consequences if I turn down GSK when I have signed the letter offer.

Leisure Saturday … still can’t go home

Wake up late a bit late, around 10am because I slept around 3:30am last nite. It was a slow and blurs morning so decided to upload some photos taken during my Sydney trip. After that, get myself freshen up and went lunch with a friend at Song Fah BKT. There was a joke from my colleague on my because I just had it yesterday and today I’m having it again and it’s near our office too :p

After the park is opened, they even paint some foot print ... cute
After that, went to Sentosa Costa Sand for some racquet because my friend’s relatives will visit SG next month and take the opportunity to walk around at Sentosa. About 8+pm, went to Bugis to watch Kung Fu Panda 2 before I’m leaving tomorrow. Luckily it wasn’t that late after the movie so still manages to get MRT home.

Managed to pack up around 12am and preparing myself for another stop … Bangkok

Yes! Samy’s Curry and PS Café for TGIF

Suppose to be TGIF and not so busy day but turn out everyone was so busy until 7pm. Suppose our TGIF outing start at 6:30pm but ended up only departure around 7:30pm. Anyway, work is over and the itinerary for tonight will be around Dempsey Road. I heard there is a lot of nice and expensive restaurants which similar to Bangsar in KL.

Dinner will be at Samy’s curry and was told the best curry in town but pricey and instantly I think of Ravi’s in SS2 PJ. Dunno why Indian food is such over price but still got people go and eat. To me, the common one like banana leave set is ok but why bother to order 2 big prawn for S$20? Crazy.

After that, went for a decent place for dessert, PS Cafe where they sell wide varieties of cakes. They even show most of their cakes at the reception area and I believe they purposely do this to attract their 'victims' :) Overall the ambiance is good and price wise seems reasonable (for such classy place).

Zombie in the office!

Yeah, that’s referring me because I couldn’t sleep well and went to office around 8:15am. OMG, what happened to me? It’s torturing because I keep yawn and felt very sleepy the whole day. Must go for a good lunch with the team to keep me awake but also kinda miss them too.

After lunch, it does feel better but at the same time more work is coming in and as well as preparation for my coming trip to BKK and ICH. How come I am the one who arrange it but it was supposed conducted by my US manager? Sigh …

Wednesday 25 May 2011

Good Bye Sydney

Since today I’m not going to office and my flight is around 3pm so I’ve decided to wake up a bit late but still around 7:30am. Get freshen up and finalize my packing because I will need to meet up Angela around 8:30am then do some walking around town then head straight to airport. Somehow I received her SMS saying she was stuck in bad traffic and will need to reschedule the meeting to 11am. Since it’s about my check out time so I went shuffled the agenda and went for a walk before meeting her up.

It’s a cool and rainy morning but still not a bad condition to browse around. Manage to visit Hype Park, St Mary Catheral and also saw a 3 storey Apple Store and it seems the biggest I’ve seen so far. About 10am, my stomach is signaling me it’s time to grab a bite and I went down to the food court in Mid point. It’s a huge food court and with wide range of food but I ended up with Rosta Fresh Burger. Since it’s only available in Australia, why not give it a try? I had a “Big Breakfast” which cost me AUD8 but the taste is much superior than McD’s “Big Breakfast”. It’s really fresh as they only make it when ordered.

It’s about 10:30am now and shall get myself ready to check out. Talk about that, the hotel seems insert an envelope with the bill this morning and slot it under my door. What the heck, are they being professional or afraid that I’m unable to settle the bill? In general, I don’t find the bell boy anyhow friendly … maybe I’m an Asian?

After some walk, it’s time to get back to hotel, pack up, check out and depart to airport around 11:30am. Oh yeah, also manage to meet up with Derrick’s wife and pass her some goodies from her husband. In return, I had to piggy back 2 walkie and WiFi router. Oh man, it seems I’m a personalized DHL for them but I get nothing in return ;)

Luckily the traffic was good that morning and it just took me 20 mins to reach airport. Since so early, so went to check in then head for lunch. Had Hungry Mack and it actually look similar to Burger King, even their value meal. Since few days I never had chance to clear my office emails, so better logon and finish it before boarding.

It’s going to be another long evening and the next day need to work also … sigh :(

Though it seems weird but I like the idea, why waste?

Day 2 – Australia EUM

Finally the last full day with them. Sounds short but it was another productivity day and managed to get all the work finish and wrap up before 5pm (also manage to clear the backlog from yesterdays too).
Before leaving the office, the local team brought me to visit their new office move plan and Estee Lauder corporate store which only sells EL product and for employees only. Not really fancy to buy things there but just to have a look how it is and get some idea.

Since my colleague left and flew earlier than me, so I have to get a taxi home alone and it was darn expensive, AUD36! In KL, I can take from KL city right up to KLIA with change.

Tonight, will have my last dinner in Sydney with my aunt before leaving tomorrow. They have chosen  Chef’s Place, a Chinese restaurant near Victoria place. Food there is almost the same like Dragon-I but slightly pricier. After that, my aunt was kind enough to to a short city tour. Firstly, went across Sydney Bridge, Fish Market,  Lunar Park then Darling Harbour. The view was so nice at Darling Harbour and I wonder why they called it “Darling Harbour”. Maybe during old days, a lot of couples went there for some romantic session and so happen everyone just called “Darling” to each other? Hehehe …

It’s was so sad that not even 20 mins there, rain finally visited me where I have no choice but had some snack at McD nearby. It’s not bad too because I had a good chat with my aunt and cousin and so happen my dad called me too.

Back to hotel around 12am and time to pack up for tomorrow. Also try out the bath tub for the last round as the tub was so nice :)

Monday 23 May 2011

Day 1- Australia End User Mapping

About 7:30am, my colleague who stays at the hotel around mine, came to fetch me to the office and kinda nervous because the audience we’re talking about this time speak fluent and strong Aussie accent. Don’t know why recently I find my English is rusted so badly until sometimes I just couldn’t make up a proper sentence.

It started with some technical issue (normal thing for day 1) like net meeting not working as expected and waiting for the rest of the participants. Like other normal meeting, ice-breaking and introduction session for all process team. The workshop started a bit slow but later, the team started to get the hang out of it. I would say it’s a very pack agenda and we even couldn’t complete some of the tasks. We were force to adjust tomorrow’s agenda in order to catch up the work. Guess what, lunch also just in office and were given 30 mins !!!

About 6:45pm, we finally called it a day and the local team invited us for a nice dinner at  Sydney Café.  It’s located at the penthouse and the view was so fantastic as it’s right facing the Circular Quay and Sydney Bridge. The dinner finished around 9:30pm and Virginia was kind enough to send me back to hotel. Really appreciate for their hospitality and hopefully I can repay them when they visit SG one fine day.
Since the night still young, I’ve decided to take a walk out again to Opera House, passing thru Circular Quay and the restaurant :)

View from the restaurant
It’s not that far actually, probably 15 mins walk but I enjoy the view along the way. Took some photos along the way as well. My main objective? Opera House for sure. Always wanted to visit here in person and finally manage to do it after 35 years … sound sad? Nah, I fine with that :)
It was a windy and cold night. Luckily I brought my jacket and decided to get something for dinner. As most of the stores closed around 6pm, so just get some cup noodles from 7-11 and enjoy it while watching Discovery channel at room.

Sunday 22 May 2011

Good morning Sydney!

My flight supposed to arrive around 10:45am but already collected my luggage around 10:15am. Since I need to wait for my aunt to pick me up then no choice but to stay put at bench at the arrival hall. Glad to found some free WiFi so at least I can still contact my family and update some FB’s status ;)

Close to 11am, my aunt finally arrived and we went straight to the carpark because there is a grace period of 15 mins in order to get free parking which I totally agreed on that. It was nice to see her again after so many years we never meet in person. The only time we meet will be during CNY when we do netmeeting. Chauvin still the same for me because I just met him early this year :)

First stop, to her house because the kids still asleep due to late night clubbing. Had a long chat with my aunt while awaiting the kids to dress up and head for lunch somewhere near her place. Maybe that area has so many Chinese and they mainly speak in Cantonese so I don’t feel any difference and easily blend into their cultures.

After that, my aunt fetch her daughter to work somewhere nearby my hotel so I took the chance to check in as well because she will bring me to few nice spots for photography. So kind of her and luckily Chauvin also join me taking photos as well.

Lobby of my hotel, Westin Sydney
In short, we went to Bondi Beach where I find it very nice, peaceful and relaxing because you can see lot of people swimming, surfing, skating, cycling or even picnicking along the beach. They really know how to utilize their family activities during weekend. Then we did a quick tour to Watsons Beach, somewhere around there and manage to see the nice cliff side landscape which gave me familiar feelings when I was in Bali. There is also a old light tower along the coast and too bad I couldn’t take some photos as I was in the car during that time.

Before going for dinner, my aunt brought me to the last spot, Torch Spot, where it has a very nice view where you can see Opera House and Sydney Bridge together side by side. She told me that not much people know this spot and normally it’s either they can only take Opera House or Sydney Bridge and not together. I was so amused with the view but too bad I didn’t bring my tripod along so some of the photos were blurry and shaky :(

Finally, we were all starving and decided to try a Japanese restaurant, Wagaya, near China Town. While parking, my aunt shown me the restaurant where she had wedding dinner 15 years ago and I bet it must be a very memorable place for her. Back to the Japanese restaurant, it was spacious and very pack and it does gave me an impression it must own by a China’s Chinese based on their design, staffs and the decorations. It does look a bit like Sakae Sushi where you will use computer to order your food.

Although just 3 of us but I really enjoy the dinner so much and can’t wait to meet them again on Tuesday. While I was walking back to my room, my heart started to feel down and heavy because for coming 2 days, it will be a very hectic one for me and I really feel myself being incapable to handle 2 full days workshop. Hopefully I can learn something out of it … pray for me

Going to Sydney

This is the day … have to pack up and get myself prepare to lift off to Sydney … 7.5 hours flight. Went to the airport around 9:30pm and reach there around 10pm. Went for dinner at HK Char Chan Teng at T3 and their prices was outraged! Just a instant noodle with luncheon meat is already S$8.50! I think in town maybe around S$5.90?

About 10:30pm, went to check in and plan to do some window shopping but just too moody and found myself a internet station. So went to Skype with my family while surfing FB instead. My boarding time suppose to be 11:35pm but somehow my instinct told me to get in now so I depart to the gate around 11pm.
Once I’m there, there is another security checkpoint where I have to remove both my laptops and the queue was quite long. Luckily I got there earlier otherwise I might be late or even miss the flight. Right after the clearance, the plane is ready to board and it was just 11:15pm! See if I went there around 11:15pm then that’s it …

Deco from my leftover food :)
What do you see? The subject is the shape of the mirror ;)
It's been a while since my last use of this
There goes my entertainment for the whole flight
It’s going to be a long journey and hope everything will be ok …

Friday 20 May 2011

It’s Friday but no journey back !!!

I used to feel happy, easy and relax for the past Fridays but not this time as I don’t get to go home :( The worst thing was, most of my KL colleagues were going back !!!!!! OMG, so ‘ke lian’

To make myself feel better, I purposely leave on the dot and went for dinner and movie with friends. Went for Pizza Hut but had chicken chop and fried calamari and chicken drummet. Feel strange not to order pizza but they have a wide range of food there. So instead of pizza, you still have a lot choices to go with.

After that went for movie … Pirates of the Carribean 4 3D. Honestly, I don’t really like 3D but most of the tickets were sold out. So try something different and for the sake of killing time … then no choice la.

Not sure how is my family over KL and hope they will have a good weekend …

Thursday 19 May 2011

Movie with 9-5 gang

Yes, 2nd time going out with the gang. Luckily I manage to clear most work yesterday but things never workout as expected. I thought I could shutdown my laptop around 5:45pm and leaving with the gang my the driver wanted 10mins more to settle some issue which sound ok to me but 5 mins later, I was bugged by a Belgium users who steal my precious 20 mins! I was so sorry for them because we only have 35 mins to travel to the cinema plus it’s rush hour. Luckily we still manage to get there and bought some chips before going into the theatre room.

After movie, I finally have the chance to go for local favourite spots for dinner. It’s somewhere Shenton way and the whole lane was filled with hawker stalls, mainly Malay food. I believe it’s a normal street in day time and food is average but something different for me. When I’m almost finishing the dinner, my US manager called me to check something but at the same time try to retain me in EL but again, I had a long discussion and rejected him in a nice way.

By the time I end my call, I realized I’m already near Hougang and really thanks for the driver being so kind and hospitality ;)

Luckily I did the same when he travel to KL previously and it’s always true that “what goes around comes around”. Better do this more then ;)

Wednesday 18 May 2011

Picking up … work :(

With a day of public holiday rest, my mood seems better now and have to force myself to settle those long pending and important issues before I’m leaving to Sydney this Saturday. Manage to settle most of the work but the clock was already 9pm. I also feel very hungry at the same time :(

Before I leave, I took out the poster made my by colleague for welcoming me move up to 7th floor and keep it in the drawer. I should have removed that on the same day because it really look ugly and gross on me, as if I’m a blood sucker.

Wanted to have dinner at NEX but I’m just too lazy and wanted to spend more time at room so as usual, KFC will be it! It may sound boring but it’s always my best choice whenever I’m lazy and wanted to watch PPS at home ;)

Tuesday 17 May 2011

City Tour – Haw Par Villa, Mount Faber and East Coast Park

Very weird today, this is the 1st time I spent my public holiday in SG. I tried to wake up late as today I shouldn’t be rushing to work but still the same old timing. To keep myself busy, I purposely plan a tight schedule today and firstly will have KFC as breakfast. It’s been months since I never had their breakfast and it feel so nice to enjoy your breakfast slowly and reading free newspaper ;)

After that, I went to Haw Par Villa … I could barely remember this place as I went there almost 30 years ago and I was this villa was closed for a period around 90s and reopened few years ago. Surprisingly the transportation isn’t hard and there will be a circular MRT station opening soon. This make visitation to this villa becomes easier. Manage to take some photos and took few spots where I took when I was still small.

Hopefully I can dig up the old chest in my grandparent place and have it scan then compare side by side.
After that, went for lunch at Vivo and have beef ball noodle. It’s Violet and myself favourite noodle but this round I will have to eat myself. It was very packed but still manage to get myself a table ;)

Next stop, Mount Faber where also my first time to take the cable to the hill top near Telok Blangah. In fact this cable car allow you to travel from  Faber Tower -> Mount Faber -> Sentosa -> Faber Tower. It will be very nice at night as there will be lights around the cable car. At the hill top, nothing much there but just a restaurant and lounge. View is just so so and not so windy … maybe that area is just too developed.

Final itinerary for the day, visit to East Coast Park (ECP) for dinner. This place actually is a park along the beach where people spent their weekends, cycling, jogging, etc. Since the crowd is quite high, of course there will be some smart businessman open various kind of restaurants from seafood to fast food including Old Town! It’s not easily accessible by public transport as you will need to take bus until Amber Park then walk along the underpass to cross over to opposite highway where the park lies. It will be good to come with a group of friends, taking some evening photos and have dinner there.

Let’s see where else should I go before going back to KL :)

Missing the son … down and moody. Wall refurbished at HDB

If you remember my past posting, there was one I mentioning about the wall around my HDB were scratched and treated with special plastic. I was wonder what are they going to do with them. This morning when I started my journey to office, I saw someone start painting them after the treatment.

Maybe this is the method how SG government maintain and pro-long their structure’s paint. You can imagine just a normal wall but so many steps and time were taken to make them up again. If in MY, it’s either not re-paint for years or just buy a new cheap paint and overlay the existing one. Sorry to say that but that’s true ...

It's just one day I left him but I already miss him so much ... how am I to survive for another 3 weeks?

Sunday 15 May 2011

Sad, long and crying Sunday

In the morning, I have already felt down as I know that I won’t be seeing my family for 3 weeks due to my back to back traveling. It feels good to be able to travel to new countries but at the same time pressured with work and apart from my family for long period. So it’s kinda mixed feelings.

To ensure Kai Meng doesn’t feel the impact, I tried not to mention anything about that because he already very emotional when I told him yesterday. Even when I’m having dinner at Pudu, I keep talking and play with him in hope that he will forget about my absence but once I left Pudu, he went to look at window and cried. This time seems more serious because he still sounded sobbed when I’m at KLS. Normally he will be stop crying when I back home for shower.

Hopefully the time will past faster and can’t wait to have them visit to SG again in June :(

Saturday 14 May 2011

Dinner with in law

Was told my in law recently won bidding the ‘kutu’ and buy the family a nice lunch. Since she wanted to return LBS near Sg Wei then we’ve decided to go there for dinner. Honestly, the food there is quite nice with a reasonable pricing.

Some of the dishes that I like will be the claypot butter cream prawn, deep fried squid, stir fried sliced brinjal with salted egg and Thai style lady finger. It’s been a while since we never had such dinner … not even during CNY.

After the dinner, they suddenly wanted to buy the ‘special balik apam’ where it has several of flavor like peanut butter, cheese, ham and mayo and whole lot more. Normally, I only need to wait with max 25 mins but today is about 40 mins and yet no info how soon would that me.

Sigh, is that good to spend so much time there? Might as well just go home and have fun with the kids :p

Friday 13 May 2011

Busy Friday – Moving to new cubicle, Fire Drill, Long Lunch and very Late Dinner :)

Today will be my last day sitting at 2nd floor as it will be used by Supply Chain team and my long awaited cubicle is waiting for me :)

About 10am, I started to move some stuffs  so that I can fully move up after lunch. While I was waiting for lift, the receptionists abnormally talked to me because they hardly talked to me during office hour. When I reached 7A floor, entering the office, I saw something weird at my cubicle. It’s with a lot of stuffs there!

  1. Big LCD Monitor
  2. Gold plated ‘bottle’ shape mobile phone
  3. Classic yet elegant telephone
  4. Huge bottle of Vodka, with a size of a water dispenser size
  5. Special striking red colour chair
  6. Confetti made of shredded colour paper
  7. A basket of varieties fruits
  8. Remote control for TV programme
  9. Photoshopped Osim’s massage chair hosted by Andy Lau was changed to my face
  10. Ribbon cutting ceremony with photos snap with Canon 60D

It’s a whole lot of things and I even got an email from the GIS Head calling me to go ‘home’. So warmy and feel tough to leave eventhough the things above were made of printed paper :)

Really appreciate their sincere and the surprise and also knowing the reason why the receptionists talked to me … to buy time informing them to expect me at my cubicle … sweet

About 4pm, our company had the 2nd round of fire drill. I can still remember clearly their first drill was on my first day reporting to ELC and it's already 8 months. Time really flies ...

Everyone departing to the meet up point

The meet up point, Hong Lim Park which located right opposite 2HR

So long, my best companion in SG ...

Before I work in SG, I knew your existence but not dare to own you as you don't come cheap or reasonable. Though the features and functionality are so human friendly and attractive but still, I have family to feed. So happen I got opportunity to work in SG with decent income and promo by local Telco, owning you isn't really a problem and my reality finally came true.

I remembered when I first bought you, I have to patiently wait for 2.5 hours from queue to registration until collection but I find it worthwhile. When I finally arrived in SG with my luggage and not knowing how/where to get direction to my room in Hougang, you came into rescue by showing me the location, route and even transport mode to take. Even until today, you're still my best navigator!

When I was down and bored, you entertain me with your music, movies, Internet and even the memorable photos that I kept within you. Walking and commuting here are very common, duration range from 10-40 mins and it would seems years to me if you didn't share my favourite songs and update me with the latest news feed. Not forgetting the most important task that you've helped me was become my eyes in SG where we took many nice and memorable photograph where some were uploaded into my daily blog. Quality is good, nice wide angle and decent shutter speed compare to others phone camera.

Without you, all these would never come true ... but somehow, when there's beginning, there's ending. I know it's rather short for us but sensible decision has to be made. Initially I wanted to bring you along with me back to 'Boleh'land but $$$ seems more important to me as I will no longer earn SGD and the high sum of penalty to be impose on me too.

I can personally assured that you have played a very important role and memory during my stay here. Hope you will understand my constrain and may the owner will take very good care of you. If my near future financial state is stable and you have new siblings, I'll promise to use your family's product again ...

Take care ... and so long!

Potential tenant coming today

Notice most of the food price in SG increased, even dessert too. The yong tau foo that I used to eat, suppose S$3.50 for 7 pcs and now they have reduced to 6 pcs. It seems the economy in SG also declining too, especially they recently had their General Election. Still had YTF today but ordered laksa instead of clear soup at S$4.

Around tea break, my landlord called me and inform me that there will be 3 potential tenants will survey my room and asking for my permission to open my room if I'm not around. Of course I'm fine but knowing my room a bit messy and to help my landlord to build a good impression to the new tenants so I indirectly told him that I will be home early today and wait for him but the fact I wanted to do some housekeeping and wash cloth. Hope this will help him.

Once I reach HG around 6:45pm, it was heavy rain but afraid they need to see the room around 7:30pm so no choice but to walk home with my small umbrella. By the time I'm home, my pant, shoe and sock already wet :(

Without wasting anytime, quickly wash my cloths, clean by room then shower. About 8pm, the first tenant ccame ... she was single, chinese, malaysian and seems IT person too. Dressed a bit TB and carrying a backpack. Could be potential one.

Not long after, another came and this round was China lady with SG boyfriend. Landlord seems not liking them but still will entertain them. The woman seems demanding and so many questions. Before they finish, I already went out to buy my dinner as I was starving :)

When I was back, I asked the landlord when is the 3rd tenant will come but he sounded that fella mostly will FFK. Hopefully he can find another good tenant like me :p but at the sanme time I feel sad and a bit down to know my room will be taken away soon ...

Swim Boat River

Today, I manage to leave office on the dot and decided to go for a movie ... alone. Since the show start 7:10pm so I need to leave office latest by 6:20pm. To save money, I purposely not booking the ticket and try my luck :)

Yes! Fast Five ... I don't mind to watch AGAIN!
Seems I got it this time, reached 7pm and found a special seat for one person. Bought 2 cheesy sausage and ice lemon tea as dinner. After the movie, remembered my FairPrice voucher is expiring soon so purposely went there (within NEX) to buy something, at least finish the voucher.

Initially wanted to buy iPhone docking but quality seems not so good and way out of my voucher value. Then went to toys section but couldn't find any interesting until I notice Motorola Walkie Talkie. Wanted to buy this sometime ago, useful during outings but I don't have justification. But for this time, I can just top up a bit then can purchase it ... which I did :)

Max 5km, outdoor scenario
The based unit and detachable clip-on
While going back, feel to take a bus ride home. Firstly, a bit bored by MRT and wanted to see more about Singapore. Sad to say that, after so many months here, I'm still not very good at places around here. Morning work, night time in MRT then home, weekend go back to KL. Where got time to wander or browse around in SG? So, decided to do some 'swim boat river' :)

The journey took 30 mins and it's fun and cold in bus (just nice for hot weather). Why fun because you can see lot of people in the bus, some kissing, some talk sweet over phone, some look dumb and more to tell :)

While walking home, feel so lonely and down ... mixed feelings because missing my kids and at the same time will be leaving soon. Not sure how long I will be back ... maybe I might not be able to come back. Reason could be family or I'm not in demand anymore in few years time ... Just make every second count by now.

Take a dip and see how luck goes ...

Maybe it’s been a while I didn’t take train because I couldn’t sleep well last night. Due to this, I already know today will be a long and tough and sleepy day for me. As the train was delayed last night, I only arrive at Tg Pagar around 8:40am. Though a bit late but still ok for Monday blues :p

To make the time pass faster, decided to join the gang for long lunch. For today, Ken was craving for Han’s and it’s about 15 mins from office. Food there is quite good but slightly pricey. Like today, I ordered Alfredo set lunch with small soup and small soft drink cost at S$12.80. If dollar to dollar, it’s not expensive because it’s almost like Secret Recipe in KL but with more varieties and bigger customer crowd.

It took me a while to wait ... in fact, I was the last one who get the food
After walking towards the counter, here my food :(
Right after I went back to my cube after lunch, I really feel sleepy and better find something to work on because it’s not nice to let colleagues see you doze off in the office :p

There will be a charity dip on this Friday and each ticket cost S$20. To encourage more people to take part, they actually allocated a prize for each ticket sold and all the money will go straight into the charity. I was told the prize’s price range from S$30 – S$300 and no wonder almost everyone bought one, including me :p Apart of that, some of the top guys donated their paintings and surprising half of them already sold out.
One thing I like about this company is their event/programme are all handled internally and by few rotating team and frequency is quite often too.

Another family KTV session

Since Violet so longing for KTV few weeks back, so today decided I bring her to Neway BTS because we will have our brunch and fun there. Seems more worth it as it’s really one stone kill 2 birds. I would say today’s session is another interesting one because Shireen used to be passive also singalong when I (purposely) pick some 90s songs, Violet dare to sing alone (vocal mode) without aid from the singer’s voice and Kai Meng who does sing also grabbed a mic and made some noise ;)

The only thing is only me because I had bad purge last night and still flu. So can’t really enjoy to the fullest and lose pitch on some songs. Maybe apart of flu, it’s been a while since my last KTV session and Kai Meng keep bugging me :p

Food wise just so so but it’s a K noon where you get one meal and drinks for free and also free flow of salad buffet. The whole thing ended at 1:30pm … lasted for 2.5 hours and billed at RM69 for 3 pax (Kai Meng still got it free as children). After that, went for groceries at Giant then spend the remaining family time at home before going to KLS around 10pm.

While waiting for the train, I manage to update some blog but announcement came that the train will be rescheduled. WTF!!!! “Again?!”, I told myself. Now we know it’s rescheduled and was anxiously waiting for the second sentence … until when?! Pls don’t tell me it’s 1am again … Luckily it was 11:30pm and not too bad. It’s was a relief but still I have to wander for a while longer. Since when KTMB will really be more professional? Sigh, only God will know …

Father and son moment

Violet has school today, as usual and Shireen is celebrating friend’s birthday party for the whole noon. So left myself and Kai Meng so decided to take it positively where we will have our Father and Son session (again) :)

Before I can ask him what he wants to do for the day, he quickly answered me to go Jusco. Reason? Amusement park and toy for sure. Luckily both of us are talkative type so we had lot of chat and jokes. I do know some of his words were exaggerated a bit but at least he has something to talk to you rather than sitting quietly and look at window. To make him aware, I indirectly told him not to exaggerated and I will still find things interesting even it’s not really interesting as long as it’s fact. This may look not too severe for now but if this keeps within him for years, the result will be unpredictable.

First stop, amusement park where we play race car game together, really side by side. Can you imagine a 7 year old boy and drive with least accident with his dad? OMG, maybe he was well train or inherits my skills :p
I know it’s not good but I can see he is much grown up by now because my conscious still tell me he’s 5 years old and still a small kid. Will not play arcade but those kiddy rides. Seems I don’t want to accept I’m aging and Kai Meng’s childhood days are getting shorter :(

Instead of drinking milk, he drinks Pepsi :p
After the games, we went to toys department and luckily he just want a Spiderman watch and then we were off to home. Just like another weekend with him, we play maze games together, board games, arcade console, computer games, movies and even make him lunch. There was a time where we fool and play around the couch where he stacks up the pillows and try to climb to the top but fail :)

Our maze game while watching cartoon
Stacking pillows
The moment before he fell :D
I just wish and hope that I will have more of this experience before Kai Meng turn into teenager. I have ‘lost’ Violet’s few years ago and things aren’t the same anymore.

About evening, my grandma called me and asking if I’m bringing my mom for western food because she miss that and it’s been a while no one bring her out. Since my mom so desparately for the money so I just give her angpow and brought my grandma for The Ship Restaurant near Jalan Bukit Bintang.

It’s good that she still likes the food and even whack the whole banana split by herself. She even recalled my grandpa had his last meal here before leaving us 12 years ago. I know how she felt … old, penniless, with major sickness, all children hardly around, most of her friends passed away and much more if were to list out. I just advised her to be more open minded, think positively and appreciate life while she’s still having it. I know it’s easy for me to say all these but that’s the fact and I will have this one day.

How about you?

TGIFriday – Hippies Night Out

One week ago, it was an interesting Friday where I get to ‘work’ out of office and not too tough Friday. Today, it’s another special Friday where the Recreational Club has organized another exciting event where it called TGIFriday. It’s something like a get together event where they invite a live band and convert our Sky Terrace pantry into mini bar. Instead of supplying the fun and alcohol, they also have prizes to best dress of the night. Oh yes, they have a theme called Hippies where you really need to dress like one, like those in 70s era.

It will start at 6pm but the pantry was already closed for ‘make up’ right after lunch time. The committee were so thoughtful where they really cover the all pantry area with white cloth where making everyone curious, nervous and can’t wait to see the event start. The bad thing was when I had TC with users around 4pm, the live band started to test their instrument and practicing some songs. It was so noisy until I had to cancel the call. It’s ok since it’s Friday and better take things easy but I will not be able to join the fun as I will be traveling back to KL at 6:30pm :(

If I’m taking train tonight … it will be very interesting, free meal, drinks and fun …. Kekeke
Managed to grab some shots of the event before I leave the office

Quarantine in room

Once I woke up, the flu seems still with me so I've informed my manager that I will be work from home today. He was so nice to ask me going back to KL and work from there but I rejected and told him that I will be at SG instead. Don't want to abuse and take advantage because of selfishness.

Also got to know I will be joining him travelling to KR, TH and AU from end May until early Jun and guess I won't be back in KL for that 2 weeks. How am I going to explain to my kids ... let's see if I can make something  out of it.

Since work isn't that much today, so will try to do some housekeeping as this is my first time working from home ... or should I say working in SG room :) Will go out for lunch soon then will start the housekeeping. What would be my lunch? :)

Easy, near, handy and tasty :)
You'll get McShaker in Seaweed flavour when size up
