Day 1 - GIS team visit to KL

I was home 1am and sleep about 3am but woke up at 5am because my team already arrived at Times Square. Such torturing but no choice because I have agreed to become their tour guide for this long weekend. It was about 15 of them and have to book 3 taxis for this, on top of my car carrying 4 of them. As I need to send my daughter to school at 6:45am, so I brought them to fish ball noodle in Tayton as it's popular and something different for them.

About 7:15am, sent them to Ken's place for settling down and get freshen up while I went back home to have breakfast with my family and send them to Pudu. I know it's bad but I really need to bring them around but at least I will be having dinner at Westin with my family :)

About 12:30pm, brought them to Mid Valley for quick shopping and change money ... same goes to me. Since they want some local food, so I brought them to try out Sek Me Choy, my fav pepper BKT in town. We have 2 tables and everyone like the food there very much and the price also very reasonable.

After that, we depart to Sg Tua waterfall because they hardly see the natural in Singapore and it's very near KL city. Maybe it's Saturday so the traffic seems bad and it took us 1.5 hours to reach there (normal route without jam should be 45 mins). When we passed the water dam near Ulu Yam, most of them so astonishing because they never see such a big dam. One thing disappointed me was ... I told them that we will get change and play the waterfall but everyone seems just want to wet their foot ... sigh

Luckily they also enjoy the session without actually playing the waterfall so I took some errands to capture some shots there. It was so nice to have a telephoto lens and it gave me a feels like sniper ... hehehe

Return to KL around 6pm and I need to make a move as I was very late for the dinner and I keep receiving calls from my son and he even dare to scold me being late. Since I'm wrong so no choice but to take it lor ... he really grown up now.

Managed to reach Westin around 7pm and it was a big party for a one year old boy. Instead of buffet, they also have clown making balloon, games for kids and it's pool side. Ian boy seems much bigger compare I last seen him few months ago. Somehow, I could see some resemblance between him and Kai Meng. Maybe I'm just missing young age of Kai Meng :p

Went home around 10pm and quickly call up the gang because my phone was flat earlier and couldn't call them for updates. It seems they just finished dinner and having Snow Beer at Segar and went to meet them straight away. This is something new because the mug and beer was frozen and when the beer was poured into the mug, instantly it become ice blended and so cool. When you dirnk it, really like Ice blended and you can't taste the beer/alcohol. Had few mugs and nothing happen ... maybe frozen beer will not make us drunk? hehe

About 12am, we hopped to another bar nearby for 2nd round where some sing KTV, chit chatting, playing pool and playing dice game. For me, of course I also hop around each activities there and it was very fun. It's really ages I didn't do all these ... ever since I left CWW.

Went back home about 4am with soaking wet condition because it was heavy rain when I sent them home. By the time I reached home and shower, it was already 5am! Damn, the next morning need to fetch them at 11am and before that need to settle my family ... That's the price for having fun :p

Last Teambuilding for Group 1 (also my last event with ELC)

Today should be an easy day because our team will have team building at Singapore Zoo for full day! Meet up at office lobby at 8:45am but I arrived at 8am to clear out all my emails so that I will have a good and relax long weekend as Monday will be Labour day :)

The journey seems not too long, about 30 mins and alight at their long corridor between Zoo and Night Safari.

Even when we enter the main entrance, we were using VIP lane otherwise we will have to suffer thru long queues as there are few schools having event there too. Along the way, saw some nice scene but I only have iPhone with me ... so better give up and only take those really interest me. I must come here again for leisure!

White Tiger! Not in MY
Forgot which tiger killed the m'sian zoo keeper

Today's venue will be a small hut near the river called "The Pavilion". Just nice for small event and we were already greeted by the host and trainer for the day ... Lyold and Darren.

First task is to build the highest tower using 20 sticks of spaghetti and a marsh mallow within 18 mins and it must stand still when measurement is being taken. Of course my team won :)

Highest tower of the day :p
3rd tower
2nd Tower. They suppose to be higher but gave up a section due to unstable
They suppose to be highest but it's not stand still during the measurement
After the tower game, we were given a tea and toilet break. It was so nice to stare at the river while seeing the boat crossing while having light refreshment. I can really sit there for hours if really nothing to do.

Chicken Siew Mai and pastry
Can shower in toilet, with heater some more
Each door will have a information poster
After the break, working time ... as expected. Like other team building, the management set a some questionnaire for problems currently facing by the company. With more brains discuss the same topic, this will  contribute some good ideas to the management and they can just goyang kaki and get free solution. Hate it but there's always no free lunch lor. After cracking brains for 2 hours then head for the lunch buffet. I must say their prawn is so nice that I have to take 2 rounds :p

Their toilet is sooo natural and creative ... and clean too
After the lunch break, it's game time again and this round ... similar to treasure hunt. It has a story and role play for each team. The objective is to find the murders and recover the missing USB sticks placed all around the Zoo. Supposing quite fun but after half an hour, it rain so heavy and my team was trapped at a shelter near Pavilion for 40 mins!

My team!
Brief description of my team
Prop for the team ... adventure wor
This is my character, also the team leader for Adventure!
I thought our team will lose as we have lost 40 mins trapped but we are the only team able to recover one USB stick :)

The mission
Look so weird with the hat and it's drizzling while taking this

One of the requirement is to take group photo with any animal. There is one in there and can you spot it?
The gift for winners ... only one umbrella so I gave to my team member instead
I thought that was it for the day but guess what, another short memory crack session to discuss some feedback and action plan for what we have discussed in the morning. This really getting me more pissed with the company ... damn kiasu! Luckily they still serve evening tea break before we go back office.

About 5:45pm, the bus send us back to office and I quickly went up to collect my backpack then get going back to KL, Yes! Long Weekend!

Another one leaving

Recently, the company seems keep losing 'asset' and not sure if the resigned colleagues found better offer or the company isn't easy to work with. Today, I just knew there was a colleague, from SAP, will be leaving soon and the team has organised a farewell dinner for her.

Before the SMI project started, they was the affiliate demand planner and just joined the team as D2B team on last Nov ... right one month after I started my career with ELC. Tomorrow will be her last day and hope she would find a better employer and working environment.

Who's next?

While I was walking out from MRT station towards my room, I saw femininely gentleman walking right in front of me. Apart of his 'feminine' attitude, his clothing really 'colourful' and I bet he must be so glamour as most people will look at him when passing thru ;)

Ayam Penyet Ria!

Got really fed up with work, it seems my choice to leave the organisation is correct. They just being to silo and fragmented. All my suggestions and findings seems causing inconveniences to the team and some of them just ignore and no reply to me at all. Issues highlighted in meetings will just get backfire and bringing me round the garden. If this is what they want, I have told myself don't give a damn anymore and just stay quiet. The less issues and problems I bring up, the more happier and optimistic the team would be.

Forget about work then, just counting the days. Today my friend brought me to another ayam penyet restaurant near Bedok Point. Since I never been to that area and also craving for ayam penyet, so decided to go. During my journey to there, I keep checking internet and four square for feedback and mostly seems the same ... food ok but customer service just so so.

Once I reached there, it was long queue and you will need to queue like a snake. Luckily during that time, waiter will pass you the menu and you can order while waiting. So when comes to your turn, just handover the slip and pay money then they will serve you the food.

It taste good and quite similar to the one I had in Lucky Plaza but the chili isn't as hot as Lucky Plaza :(

Meet up with ex-colleague

Today I had the urge to go for breakfast ... again. Maybe I'm just too bored with my oat :p
Once I power on my laptop, I quickly went down for quick breakfast because I will have 9am meeting. So ordered the meehoon and maybe my taste bud has changed because it's taste better than I first came to SG :p

Kim Hock has been chasing me for months for lunch and I really have to feel bad because every time also I have some issue/appointment which I have to cancel it. So finally, today we can make it. As his office also nearby mine, so we have decided to lunch at Freshness Burger, right inside Central Mall.

The burger isn't that great but the price is higher than Burger King and McD. If given me a choice, I would prefer to eat BK. Initially, I thought he must be asking me to introduce him to my company because he started his own business few years back and in the midst of expanding his network and client tel. Surprisingly, it's really a reunion kind of lunch but I know he dare not telling me as I already told him that I will be leaving SG. Maybe because of this he decided to change topic :)

Had some great chat and lunch with him and hope his business will be doing better over the years ... While after work, went to NEX to try out the Taiwan Beef noodle. I think I had this 2 years ago during my business trip and this time, I'm actually work in SG :)

To me, it's still loser compare to the one I had in Melaka. The soup isn't thick and strong but price wise is reasonable la. Ordered a set with noodle, side dish and a drink.

Wrapped pillar?!

Since last week, I have been noticing the pillars near my flat was wrapped with some kind of plastic (unsure if it's chemical material). Even before that, the pillar original paint (which look new and ok to me) was scratch off until you can see the base layer. So I was thinking to myself, is someone trying to renovate the pillar and in order to pro-long the paint life-span, they have to clean the pillar totally then apply some chemical to remove the moist/harden the concrete then only apply new paint? This is getting more curios and can't want to see the final end result?

That's why I always believe curiousity can kill a cat ;)

Early pulang SG day

Due to peak season, most of the tickets were sold out and luckily I still manage to buy one on Sunday but at odd hour ... which is 1:30pm. So my family will have to wake up early, then to breakfast and finally fetch them to Pudu because I will still need to take bus at old KTM Railways station. OMG, I couldn't remember how many years I never been there and I heard the railways system still functioning but mainly for cargo purposes. Other than that, it was utilised as mini Puduraya.

This time, I'm trying new coach ... Nice Express. They have their own office within KTM and double storey too. They even have lounge, free WiFi, TV and cafe to serve complimentary hot beverages. It seems a bit better than Aeroline but far cheaper than that ... around RM55+! They do have light meal given, unlike Aeroline with main meal such as Chicken Rice Shop. At Nice, they serve you a small cup of mineral water and some light refreshment. To me, it's still ok because it's half price lower than Aeroline. Bus condition and staff hospitality of course Aeroline is better la (StarMart is hopeless).

On 2nd thought, it's good to leave early back to SG because I was avoid the jam timing and able to home rest early. About 4:30pm, the bus reached Machap R & R and as usual I will go to buy my fruit meal :) It's quite nice but a bit pricey, RM2 per box (the box can be re-use for microwave also). Okla, not doing this everyday, right? After 20 mins later, the journey continues.

Once passed SG checkpoint, the bus that I took had to be replaced with another one because there were some water leakage due to earlier rain. Luckily they have a spare bus there and we get to swap bus without much waiting :)

About 7:30pm, it finally arrived in SG town area and it's quite near Little India (same line with Hougang) so I can just take MRT home ... home stretch baby! Manage to buy 2 filet-o-fish at S$3.50 because my iPhone's app got free promo, also spotted a nearby western restaurant which their food look good and reasonble price too. So I bought a mushroom soup as part of the dinner :)
