Clarke Quay & Dhoby Ghaut Day

Day 2 after the warning, I still reach office before 9am and let's see how long I can maintain this ;)
Today, one of my US colleague pass me a tasks for regenerating weekly passwords for RF scanner for whole year, where 45 scanners need to be reset in weekly basis. In total it need to generate 45 x 52 = 2340 unique password with special characters. What they were doing in the past is going to those website with free password generator to do it. Take note the website can only generate 35 passwords per session and imagine how many times they need to do it .. about 67 times. Each time need 1 minute and the whole process need at least 1 hour.

I find it too hassle and manual so right after the call, I went to google some excel script and wrote a small routine whereby I can generate 2340 random passwords with special character by single click which take less than 5 seconds! Though this is few times per year job but still, imagine how much time it takes from me? When I email him about the password, I did share my tool with him but seems he don't mention anything, not even border to ask me why I make this tool. Anyway, no point asking because I just share it for the sake of whole team and if they don't appreciate it, I will keep it to myself.

After work, I went to meet up with my family at Dhoby Ghaut for dinner and this round, Violet want to dinner at the HK style restaurant again because she miss the drink kept in a tin mug. After the dinner, we went to Clarke Quay for some dessert and sight seeing because the river view is quite nice. But before that, I will need to go back office to attend 8:30pm call. Because Shireen want to do shopping so I went back to office with my kids as they were curious and excited to visit my office because they have seen those pictures taken when I just started work.

After the meeting, we meet up again at Central Mall then walk around there for about an hour. Brought them walk around the river, bought the biscuit ice cream and also brought them to see the remote control flying saucer with colorful lights. I overheard the person enquire with the person in charge and the smallest model is starting S$500+. OMG, why is it so expensive? Just flying around and not much place can play it. Better took some videos and keep it for remembrance. Expensive you know ;)

After that, we went back home and watch PPS again ... McDull ;) It's so fun to watch with them and before I close my eyes to sleep, I was thinking to myself how nice if my kids can stay with me longer. I know I'm so lucky this week with them but next week, I'll be in terrible moody state when I'm alone in the room and recalling things I've done with them. See, world is fair ... you gain something then you must lose something.

Good night kids ...
